Chat from your wallet.
Scarf is a messaging app where your wallet is your account. Talk one-to-one or in groups, share photos, video and files, and send a payment right in the conversation.
No email. No password. No gas.

Did you get the photos from Saturday?
Here they are. The last one is my favourite.
Everything you expect from a chat app.
Plus the things only a wallet can do: sign in without an account, and send money with a message.

Up and chatting in a minute.
Behind each message is a signed request your wallet approves. The app handles the rest.
Step 1
Connect your wallet
MetaMask or any injected wallet. Your address is your account, so there is no sign-up form.
Step 2
Pick a username
Choose the name people will see. It is saved on-chain with your address in one signature.
Step 3
Say hello
Start a chat or a group and send your first message. A relayer submits it, so you pay no gas.
- 0 ETH
- to send a message
- 50 MB
- per file you share
- 10
- people per batch send
- 1 GB
- of storage per user
Three contracts run the whole app.
There is no Scarf server holding your messages. The app reads and writes these contracts on Base Sepolia, and you can inspect each one yourself.
A messaging app where your wallet is your account. Chat one-to-one or in groups, share photos, video, audio and documents, message several people at once, and send a payment in the thread when you need to. Everything runs on smart contracts on Base.
Yes. Start a new conversation and add as many registered wallet addresses as you like. Everyone in the group sees the conversation in their inbox.
Text, photos, video, audio and documents. Files up to 50 MB are uploaded to IPFS and linked in the chat, and each user has 1 GB of storage.
Yes. Batch send lets you write one message to up to ten recipients and send it with a single signature.
No. You sign each message in your wallet, the app's relayer submits it, and the Paymaster covers the gas. Whoever runs the app needs to keep the relayer and Paymaster funded.
Anyone who reads the chain. Message text is stored in the contract on a public network, and files on IPFS can be fetched by anyone with their link. Don't send anything you need to keep secret.
Not from the app yet. The contract lets the sender or recipient mark a message as deleted, but the original transaction always stays in Base's history, as everything on-chain does.
Base Sepolia, Base's test network (chain ID 84532). The contract addresses are on this page and can be checked on BaseScan.
Say hello from your wallet.
Connect, pick a username and start your first conversation. It takes a minute and costs no gas.
